A Welcome Message From WRPA President Nick FarlineI am excited to invite you to Tacoma this coming spring for the 2026 WRPA Conference and Tradeshow, taking place April 21 through 24 and built around a theme that could not fit our profession more perfectly: “Embrace the Chaos: There Are No Straight Lines in Recreation.” If you have been in this field for any amount of time, you know this work is not linear and it is never boring. Plans shift, communities change, challenges surprise us, and still we show up with creativity, grit, and a commitment to delivering spaces and programs that make people’s lives better. That adaptability is a strength, not a setback, and this conference is where we sharpen it. Tacoma gives us the perfect backdrop to reconnect, share what is working, push our thinking, and shape what comes next for parks and recreation across Washington. My hope is that you leave this conference encouraged, energized, and reminded of the impact you make every single day.
